Students and teachers alike were excited to hear about academic changes this year when it came to benchmark tests.

Each nine weeks, in the past, were finalized with either benchmarks or exams. This year it will be very different. There will still be semester exams in December and May, but there won’t be benchmarks marking the end of each nine weeks.

Students were excited to hear about this change because that nine weeks test often was a struggle and might drop an average for the nine weeks. Teachers were excited because it would give them one more week to complete academic work for the students. In the past all tests and projects had to be stopped during benchmark week which actually meant that teachers could only teach eight of the nine weeks. This would allow for a full nine weeks of teaching and allowing for hands on activities.
